An overview of the UK Innovator Founder Visa

Applicants for the Innovator Founder Visa must demonstrate relevant experience in business and sufficient investment funds to start and grow a new business in the UK. To apply, one must have one's business or business idea evaluated by an endorsing body approved by the Home Office.

If approved, the endorsing body will provide an endorsement letter. A successful innovator can bring their family members to the UK for three years at a time. Innovators can apply to extend their stay in the UK for another three years, or to settle in the UK permanently under indefinite leave to remain (ILR) after three years. Endorsing bodies are required to endorse each of these three stages (initial application, extension, settlement).

Upon expiration of the initial three-year period, the main applicant must apply for an 'extension of stay' from within the UK. If all relevant criteria are met, the authorities may grant the applicant a three-year extension.

British citizenship can be obtained upon being granted settlement and living in the UK for at least five years (the applicant must have held ILR during that period). If it falls under skilled labour, business owners can seek secondary employment in the country. The Home Office website provides detailed information about the Innovator Founder Visa.
